This lesson will be based on how to use special characters in Microsoft PowerPoint
Special Characters
A special character is one that is neither an alphabetic nor a numeric character. Special characters include things like punctuation and other symbols. Special characters, as opposed to alphanumeric characters, may be used in numerous contexts.

Insert Tab
As the name suggests, it is used to insert or add extra features in your presentation . It is commonly used to add tables, pictures, clip art, shapes, page number, etc. The Insert tab has seven groups of related commands; Pages, Tables, Illustrations, Links, Header & Footer, Text and Symbols.

Symbols groups
Symbol groups is where special characters and other symbols are found.
Symbol - Drop-Down. Lets you insert symbols into your presentation. The drop-down contains the commands: Euro, Pound, Yen, Copyright, Registered, Trademark, Plus-Minus, Not Equal To, Less-Than or Equal To, Greater-Than or Equal To, Division, Multiplication, Infinity, Micro, Alpha, Beta, Pi, Ohm, Summation, Smiley Face and More Symbols

Now lets learn how to identify special characters
Click the Insert tab → the Symbol drop-down button → More Symbols. Then the Symbol dialog will pop up.

Inserting special characters and images in a presentation.
Below are the steps to insert special characters in presentation
1. Click in a text box and position your cursor where you want to insert the special character. Select Insert> Text> Symbol.
The Symbol dialog box appears.
2. From the Font drop-down menu, choose a font. The special characters you see vary depending on the font you choose, not just in appearance but in number.
3. From the Subset drop-down menu, choose the type of symbol you are interested in. Alternatively, you can scroll through the symbol window to find the symbol you are looking for. Choose the symbol you want to insert, and then click Insert.
4. PowerPoint inserts the selected symbol. Click Close to dismiss the Symbol dialog box.
Below are the steps to insert image in presentation
1. Open a PowerPoint presentation.
2. Click the Insert tab on the Ribbon bar at the top.
3. In the Images section, click the Pictures icon.
4. In the Insert Picture window, find and select the picture file you want to insert, then click OK
